We are very happy to offer you again our monthly newsletter! Time passes so fast, and the babies of yesterday have become the new toddlers and preschoolers of today. I wish I could have done this newsletter since the beginning of the year, but my classes, homework, and family situations kept me very busy as well. I am committed to doing this monthly, so you can see what we are doing in the classroom, how your child learns, and how you can support him/her at home. This month we will be focusing on language development by reading stories and singing songs in Spanish.
- A color of his own (Su propio color) by Leo Lionni
- Transportation by Gail Gibbons
- If you give a pig a pancake by Laura Numeroff
- My Colors, My World/ Mis colores, Mi Mundo by Maya Christina Gonzalez
- Pete the Cat and his four groovy buttons by Eric Litwin
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s ABC by Eric Carle
- My Very First Book of Color by Eric Carle
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Garden Picnic by Eric Carle
Our Lending Library is displayed in the main entrance, so you may take books home to read with your child.
We will be displaying a classroom mailbox everyday. The purpose of this activity is to familiarize children with letters and encourage them to develop writing skills. We will set the mailbox in the main entrance before pick-up times. Also, you may write cards to your child and leave it in the mailbox in the morning.
Last month, I sent home a bag with a book to read with your child so they could familiarize themselves with the story and retell the story during our circle time. Children need to bring back the book this week and retell the story. After that, I will send another book home.
In the parent page, you can see videos that I took as part of assignments in my college classes.
Website
Don’t forget to visit our website at https://www.rainbowsworldfcc.com to view pictures and videos of your child on the parent’s page. There will be a testimonial section, and we would love and appreciate it if you can share your experiences on it. Also, please read the reminders, announcements, and calendar sections carefully to be clear about rules, schedules, and program updates. You may also download our Holidays page if you do not have one. If you have any problem viewing our parent’s page or newsletter, please notify me immediately.
Trash to Treasure
We encourage you to bring us things you can find around the house for our crafts or dramatic area. Our goal is to reflect your culture in our program. Many of these things might be things that you are considering to throw away. We would love to help you recycle these things.
Peace Through Policies
We will use this space to go over a policy every month to remind you of a policy that needs to be followed: “If you know that your child has a medical appointment or any other reason for coming late, you must tell us in advance or before 8:00am.” (Parent Handbook, program policies page 12)
Reminders
- We want to thank each and every one of you for complying with our illness policy. We truly appreciate that. Let’s keep it up, so we can all be happy and healthy.
- Immunization records: Remember to keep your child’s shots in mind and when your child has new shots. I need an updated copy the same day or the day after for my state monitoring records.
- The weather is changing: please remember to send your child with appropriate clothes for the weather. Children need to come with a jacket or sweater every day in case the weather changes abruptly.
Finally, this week I will conclude my third year of college, and I will begin my senior year next fall. Thank you for your support and words of encouragement. I am implementing many of the strategies, tools, and knowledge I have learned. My goal is to help all the children progress in all the aspects of learning and development during their time here. Please, feel free to talk to me if you have any child development concerns. Thanks to everyone for your trust and cooperation.
